Where are you now?

Height and weight

Weight and height are used to calculate your body mass index (BMI) by dividing your weight by your height.

The higher your BMI, the higher your risk for specific conditions such as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.

Research shows that people from certain ethnic groups from Asian or African, or Middle Eastern descent are more likely to experience health problems as a result of their weight. This means that you may be in a different category to the one that you expected because an adjustment has been made to take account of this risk.

Waist circumference and height

If you entered your waist measurement, this is used to calculate the relationship between your waist and height. You might find it helpful to repeat this assessment with your weight measurement. This is because the waist measurement does not identify people who are at really high risk.

Any advice that we give is based on the information you have given us. You should always follow advice you have been given by a health professional.

While you don’t currently  have a long term health problem it is important that you take action to reduce your future risk of health problems. As you have said you have lost weight over the last year it looks like you have already started.

As you have lost weight many times before and put most of it back on we would recommend that you access more specialist help. Follow this link to information on services that are available or speak to your GP or practice nurse.
