Public Health Dietitians

Foodwise for Life

Foodwise for Life is an 8-week healthy lifestyle programme which supports those who would like to lose weight in a healthy way, become more active and build social networks in their local communities.

Sessions may be delivered alongside exercise or practical cooking sessions if available and can be delivered either virtually or face-to-face in community venues. 

Foodwise in Pregnancy App

The Foodwise in Pregnancy App has useful information on eating well, keeping active and achieving healthy weight gain in pregnancy. There are six sections to work through at your own pace which also include interactive games, quizzes and tools.  

 

Get Cooking

Get Cooking is a fun and informal 8 week practical cooking programme running in local community venues for 8 weeks. Sessions aim to support you with practical cooking, shopping and budgeting skills, making balanced meals both affordable and tasty.

 

PIPYN

PIPYN is a tailored programme of activities for families with at least one child aged 3-7 years that live in the Merthyr Tydfil area. PIPYN provides support around building healthy family habits and includes topics such as parenting skills, eating healthier on a budget, meal planning, affordable food, good shopping habits, healthy recipes, screen time, active play, family play and much more!

Food and fun

Food and Fun is a 12 day school-based programme currently running over the summer holidays. It provides interactive food and nutrition education, physical activity, enrichment sessions and healthy meals to children in our most deprived communities.
 

HENRY

Healthy Families: Right from the Start (HENRY) is running across Cwm Taf Morgannwg for parents and carers of children aged 0-5 years old and is free to join. The programme consists of 1 hour weekly sessions run over 8 weeks and supports families to give their children the best start in life. 

Themes such as parenting confidence, family lifestyle habits, meal times and nutrition, physical activity and active play is covered in the sessions. To find out more visit their website or contact us at HENRY_CTM_PHW@wales.nhs.uk.

Joint Care Programme 

The Joint Care Programme is a 12 week, community based programme targeted at patients who are over a healthy weight and have chronic knee and/or hip pain. The programme will support them to lose weight, increase activity levels and improve their overall health and well being. 

Wellness Improvement Service (WISE) 

The WISE service provides a nine month holistic approach to improve individuals overall health outcomes. To find out more visit their website or email CTM.WISE@wales.nhs.uk.
 

National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) 

The NERS scheme is an evidence-based health intervention incorporating physical activity and behavioural change techniques to support referred clients to make lifestyle changes to improve their health and wellbeing. NERS provides an initial assessment, a 4-week review and a suitable exercise programme for 16 weeks.
